Located in the riviera Maya, on the Yucatan Peninsula, Tulum is a peaceful haven compared to the touristic craziness of the surrounding cities.
\nYou will be able to recharge your energy thanks to its cozy Mexican village and its relaxed atmosphere all along its endless white sand beach.
\nThere are a lot of things to do around Tulum, rather you want to go scuba diving, tanning on the beach, discover the wonderful nature around us, go sky diving in Playa del Carmen or eating delicious mexican food, there are a lot of different options for you.<\/p>\n
Discover the richness of the Mayan culture by visiting the ruins filled with history. The Mayan ruins of Tulum are the only ones in Mexico facing the sea. Close to Tulum, the little town of Coba has a wonderful archelogical site and amazing Cenotes (Tamcach-Ha, Choo-Ha and Multum-Ha) very close by. A cool adventure to do on a one day trip.<\/p>\n
If you want to push a little further we would recommend you the city of Valladolid and the site of Ek-Balam, empty from turists, you will feel like being 2000 years back.
\nThe amazing site of Uxmal in the south of Merida is also amazing and why not stopping for lunch by Izamal, the little yellow village lost in the middle of Yucatan.
\nOn the way back, the most famous site of Chichen Itza is also of course a must do but not in our favourite sites because of all the masses of people visiting that site, removing a bit of its charm and originality.
\nThe best of them all remain the mayan site of Calakmul, on your way to Chiapas, no excuses if you’re driving a rental car.<\/p>\n
You will also be able to try the famous ceviche in a Mexican restaurant (El Camello or El Dorado are part of the best and original with white plastic tables on the terrace), or go to El Tacoqueto for authentic mexican food, cheap and good portions, one of our favourite address. If you would like good mexican meat, El Asadero is a very good address, but if you like better seafood, then Kay-Nah will be your top choice.
\nWhy not ending with a glass of tequila in one of the numerous bars of the village like Batey with Live Music or Mercado Centauro.<\/p>\n
If you feel like chilling in the shade of a coconut tree on the beach, we will definitely recommend you “La Eufemia”.<\/p>\n
